Too Few Calories?
Many people struggle with a calorie counting issue of another sort. People get so wrapped up in trying to lose weight, and being strict about what they eat that they start taking in too few calories. Because so many people trying to lose weight are also working out very hard, taking in the adequate amount of calories, and the right ratio of proteins to fats to carbs is important to keep your body in optimal shape.
People who take in too few calories end up plateau-ing much earlier in their weight loss journey. The metabolism then changes to compensate for the extremely low caloric intake, and the person then becomes trapped into eating too little.
Losing weight at a rate of about ½ lb. to 1 lb per week will let your body function at it's optimal metabolism. Eating a balanced diet full of fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, whole grains, and lean proteins, and maintaining a regiment of heart-healthy cardio and weight training is the best way to keep your body functioning at it's best. And as long as you create a defecit - (an extreme one not necessary!), you'll lose the weight.
