Uh oh. The "F" word. FAT. As in the stuff you eat. You've been conditioned to dread this avoid, avoid the substance, and swear off anything even remotely resembling fat. But realistically, those who weigh the least, are the most fit, and overall the healthiest will tell you that they don't avoid fat like the plague. They embrace it. Unsaturated fats are the fats you want to incorporate in your diet. They are healthier for you, and important to use in your meals, as many valuable nutrients that are necessary for your body functions are fat soluble, meaning they only kick in in the presence of fat. You can find unsaturated fats in natural products like olive oil, salmon, and avocados. These are delicious additions to many meals, and there are a slew of other delicious unsaturated fats that will add flavor and value to your diet.
Remember though, even the healthy kinds of fat are to be consumed in moderation. They are still calorically dense, and therefore, even a small amount of olive oil can add hundreds of calories to your meal. Find way to get the fats without abusing it.
